All things bright and beautiful in Bangkok... and very Christmassy!

Hello everyone How is your week going? I hope you're having a wonderful Wednesday. Here is a lotus flower for you. Isn't it incredible? I picked it on one of my recent trips in rural Thailand to spend some time with the Ban Laem Community. They rowed me out into the middle of the pond, like a Princess to pick it! Oh me, oh my what a life! Mind you, if you can see the photo below I had to walk the gangplank of the bamboo path to get into the boat! You can read more about this here: The Ban Laem Community, Suphanburi, Thailand All good here, although I'm missing being in Australia at the moment as it is the Spring Racing carnival's Melbourne Cup weekend. It's a lovely time of year, spring is one of the best times anywhere in the world don't you agree? We've not got any horses here but we do have loads of animals in my corner of the world.  Whereever I go in Bangkok,  I always seem to find the elephant in the room. Haha! Guess ...

Blue toes excitements!

Hello, how are you doing? It's been another great week here in Thailand.             'I have found that if you love life, life will love you back'. Arthur Rubinstein Sixteen weeks ago I painted my toenails turquoise blue and life's been good ever since.  Who knew such a simple change could make all the difference? Pull up a chair and I'll tell you all about it! I've always had pink toes, maybe coral, and very occasionally,  I've worn red nail polish at Christmas.  My blue toes are my sign to myself to get out there,  to have fun and do something different. I mean let's face it unless something's gone drastically wrong in the day,  you've always got your feet with you, haven't you?  In Thailand, we never wear socks, so I have a secret, constant reminder to: Do it different, stay out of the ordinary! I thought I'd made this up myself, but  The Beauty Gypsy writes:  Forget an...

Wrestling love swans in the Land of Smiles and butterflies…

Thank you, thank you, thank you one and all, who voted for my entry in the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Blogger Competition 2019. Every one of your votes warms my heart, and I hope you’ll be as thrilled as I was when I received the notification… Congratulations!  The six winners of the second TAT Newsroom “Blogger Thailand” competition will enjoy an exclusive four-day trip reflecting Thailand’s ‘Open to the New Shades’ campaign, scheduled for 25-28 July, 2019, to Prachin Buri, Nakhon Nayok and Nakhon Ratchasima provinces as well as Khao Yai National Park, which borders all three of these provinces. Of course, the first thing I did was check out the program.  You’d only gone and voted me onto an action-packed trip  with five male bloggers exploring   off-the-beaten-track Thailand.  Gulp, gulp! Oh, how my friends did chuckle at the thought of me,  Little Miss Cautious Wren off on this little adventure, and the...

The Expat - an A to Z of how not to make friends.

Ok, so I have now officially disgraced myself with the Americans… A little bit of backstory, I moved to Bangkok eighteen months ago. It was a tricky move coming from the eight times winner of the ‘World’s Most Liveable City’ Melbourne, Australia to one of the most polluted, congested and the world’s hottest capital city… I gave up a meaningful job that I loved, in the Not-for-Profit sector to become a lady of leisure.   I threw myself into life here. I enjoyed the travel and getting to know Bangkok, and we had loads of visitors, but this year everything changed when we moved into our forever place in Bangkok. Hated it, nothing worked, was miserable, so had a great summer traveling the globe visiting family and friends instead. Back in Bangkok, ready to immerse back into my Thai life, I am moving into a new apartment and ready to make some new friends, I joined a few expat organisations…   I know, I know being an Expat sounds glamorous, we have l...
