The HeART Project, Hong Kong

Hello to you all and welcome back to Bangkok! I have been looking forward to introducing you to the HeART Project. Photo One: HeART by Helen Boyd What do you see here? I see a crazy Little Wandering Wren, sitting on a branch, under a shady tree... Anyone see anything different? Do let me know! Photo Two: Framed with other HeART examples  The HeART project is the brainchild of Hong Kong artist and friend Helen Bronte Boyd.  I have long admired the growth of Helen's business and took the opportunity to pop in and see her in her Sai Kung H Studio Gallery, on my recent Hong Kong visit.  This artists hub is home to art classes, workshops, and exhibitions.  You can c lick  here  for more info on H Studio Gallery. Photo Three: My HeART with Thai Art backdrop The HeART Project is: "a yearly project dedicated to creating original heARTs,  posting them daily on social media to generate more kindness and joy! ...

What a crazy week!

I'm having one of those weeks to be cherished for the rest of my life! Monday: Macau Tuesday: Hong Kong Wednesday: Paris #LittleWanderingWren When I'm in the old people's home with a grin on my face  it will be because of weeks like this... The world is a beautiful place and the contrasts between the smelly dried fish of Macau and the linesmen in their designer cardigans at Roland Garros yesterday gave me a little, ok a massive:   "life's good" moment! But can't stop we're off to the tennis again today. Have fun, whatever you're up to,  I'll be over to visit you when I get off cloud nine!

Hong Kong - it's a dogs dinner

You either get the place or you don't... Love it, or hate it, it's always great to be back in Honkers.  It's eight years since we left, yet I still get the 'bright lights' frisson of excitement, t he moment I get off the plane. It's when you feel that wall of humidity  hit, your hair gives you the real meaning of frizz-on, and that 'Fragrant Harbour' smell starts the assaults  on your senses.  Victoria Harbour Hong Kong Sept 2015 And you yell out in fine voice 'Honey, I'm Home! '  and the polite crowd of Hong Kong Chinese around you,  smile awkwardly and continue playing on their I phones.  'Oops, sorry, pardon me for my over-exuberance!' Apple Store - Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon Two minutes in the Hotel check-in line, becomes two hours  and all because you are handed your room key for two  and told breakfast is for one.  You ask whether you can have breakfast for two  but your na...

Planes, trains and automobiles ... and Uber!

Dear Blog... I'm sorry I've not been paying you much attention, I've been busy!  I've thrown out my soy decaf cappuccino days  and life of computing,  for a double espresso and life of commuting. Thank you for all your letters of concern regarding my work induced chick pea rash . It's clearing up nicely thank you! It's a bloomin' good job that my return to Australia last month saw me like some Whirling Dervish domestic goddess It's not like that now, and again we've run out of milk! Those first few weeks back from trialling Mr Wren's retirement plan  of enjoying European summers,  I called it market research,  he calls it   ' swanning off round the world', w ere flat out! If you look carefully you can see our blue Metro trains! Everything that could be fixed and mended was,  even the  dog, who to be fair, did have an ear infection!  He carries on like such a pork chop when...

Happy Blue China and Glass Monday

Last week my blog had a Japanese influence, in honour of our lovely Japanese guests. This week we managed a quick change of the linen, mopped the floors and welcomed two lovely lasses from Hong Kong and China. In fact had you come round earlier I would have handed you a duster... We are lucky we know both countries well, on account of living in Hong Kong for a few years, so there is much to talk about. The girls are with us for the three weeks of school holidays whilst they study for their Year 12 final exams. We've turned the living room into a study hall, I've added a jug of lime juice and some jellybeans... 'You don't do that for us' the cry went up 'You don't study' I replied - touché. So here we are, for the first time in a zillion years in a school holiday and I've no plans to go anywhere much... So I'm glad you've popped by, I'll put the kettle on. I'll get my special blue bird mug out. Reminiscing ...
