You know you're home in the Cotswolds when....

Would you like to take a little wander with me  in the picturesque West Oxfordshire Cotswold village of Clanfield? You know you're home in England when the local Inn is called The Plough... The Cotswold Plough Inn and Restaurant Spring is a lovely time to visit this pretty village.  The daffodils are adding a cheery burst of colour against the Cotswold stone wall Every house has a certain charm, even on a grey day... Blakes Kitchen in the old Post Office has done wonders for village life. It used to be that you would stay home and invite your friends around for a nice cup of tea. Why we always say ' would you like to come round for a nice cup of tea '? I'll never know. Blakes Kitchen, The old Post Office, Clanfield   Why stay home when the choices are way more exciting in the local cafe from a cappuccino to a local beer, cider or Cotswold gin. They even have a micro-bakery With lots of Easter Hot X Buns of course......

Dear William: Not all those who wander are lonely!

'I wandered lonely as a cloud... Well, that’s as maybe in my new life, but since our arrival in Bangkok,  a month ago, it’s been fun to wander around on my own.  When you move countries your senses are on high alert.  You feel life more. You hear more, smell more for sure, not all great!  You definitely see more  when you are not walking along chatting with friends.  By the way, the finding friends bit is looking promising,  I’ve met some lovely ladies in Bangkok.  Phase two of the search for friends is do they have nice husbands?  For Mr Wren! We have high hopes we won't be wandering lonely for too much longer.  Ermm, actually, have you seen our diaries?  Even if we never meet anyone here, it appears through the non-stop visitors arriving,  that the world is coming to us! Yippee. In the meantime, we took a quick trip to the UK to fill our lungs full of fresh air and to recharge ahead of the...

Bluebell woods at Badbury Clump

"If you go down to the woods today You're sure of a big surprise..." Henry Hall - Teddy Bears Picnic You can't beat a walk through a carpet of bluebells with the sunshine dappling through the trees. It's one of life's uplifting free pleasures. I've been coming to the Bluebell Woods  at Badbury Clump  in Oxfordshire  since I was a child riding through on my pony. 2015 is shaping up to be an epic year! It's something to do with a mild February  and the  driest March in forty years which means Spring has come early in these 'ere parts. Having just arrived in the UK from an Aussie autumn it's a true  "Honey, I'm home" moment. It's lovely to be back! Linking with thanks to the following: Blue Monday Mosaic Monday Song-ography

England in Spring

It took me twenty-eight hours to fly from Australia to England... I was there twelve nights  then it was twenty-four hours (whooo hooo!) to get back. That's hardly time enough to get over the jet lag... Is it? It was a busy, busy, busy   whistle-stop* tour  to catch up with family  and wave off my daughter on her African adventure. Happily we also celebrated a couple of birthdays, mine included. We started with a day out in Burford,  a picturesque Cotswold market town  chosen for some good clothes shopping and a pub lunch. Cotswold stone cottages in Burford We had some lovely days out to the Cotswolds and Oxford and stayed in Bristol, Stratford on Avon, London  and I even managed to buy a house! Now that's a story I'm saving for a rainy day... Here are some of my favourite blue photos from the trip. Thatched cottages which look good at any time of year,  look even better when Spring is in the air...
