Glasto Rock Chick

Hello, I'm going offline for a while as I head off to Glastonbury, UK for the World's biggest and best Performing Arts Festival. Yes, Somehow your little Wren will be spending six nights unplugged, WOT no Wifi?

This five-star chick is off living in a tent and perhaps facing the biggest game of survivor since her days at Pony Club camp in the '70s.

Quite how I went from trying to get tickets with the idea of glamping in a TiPi,  real beds, and the best linen, unlimited champagne, and fresh flowers and the like ...

to camping in a steward's off-site enclosure whilst volunteering for a Somerset charity (Who'd have thought they'd have me!), remains entirely down to a night at the movies... Bohemian Rock chick Wren here I come.

As a Glasto newbie I have already broken many of the rules:

1. Oxfam is making second-hand fashion a Worthy Cause at Glastonbury Festival 2019. It’s a solution to the damage fast fashion is doing to our planet and its people.

Oops to all my brand new Festival clothes. Chatachuk Market in Bangkok has done me proud for my Little Wandering Owl frock, Amarin Plaza for my Thai pants, Cancer research for my 'Real Women wear mud' T-shirt big oops!

2. The second deadly sin is plastics, there is a rumour that Glastonbury will go entirely plastics free for the 2020 50th Anniversary:

Refill not landfill in a concerted effort to make Glastonbury more sustainable and to help Festival-goers consider their use of single-use plastics, single-use plastic bottles will not be available at Glastonbury 2019. Instead, we recommend Festival Goers use a reusable water bottle.

Oops, that's me and my contraband Evian water - honestly, everyone else is trying to work out how they can carry enough booze into Glasto and I'm worried about my water!

3. Spot the Glasto Newbie. We have already pitched our tents, one of the benefits of stewarding is that we get to do this before the Festival opens. I have an arm full of non-removable armbands allowing me access to various areas. One is on the wrong arm!

The pros all yell 'not on the arm that you wipe your bum with'!

Oops too late!

Wish me luck and see you on the other side!

I will be coming to you live from my Instagram account @Lwwren
as and when I find electricity to recharge my phone, do join me there!

The last time we did primitive tenting was in 2008. We tented in Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons and Estes Park for a total of about 14 days. Had bear scat about 100 feet from the tent. Fun times. Good luck with the water!

Enjoy your camping Wren. 6 nights with no wifi, wow very brave of you, but I think it's actually great to unplug and just relax.
Oh wow - you are so going to appreciate the creature comforts after you come out the other side of this. Better you than me! Good luck - I hope it doesn't rain.
Wishing you good luck and good weather!

All the best Jan

This may be your biggest adventure yet! I just love your owl shirt and i was hoping to see the harem pants. Maybe in an “after” shot? Be brave, Wren, and cross your fingers for good weather. xo

You are too cool for school! What a great time you must be having. Talk about history flashbacks! I hope the weather holds, the crowd is nice, the water lasts and that you have a wonderful, safe, loads-of-fun time!
You are my hero! Enjoy!!!

You may have been in a tent rather than an RV, but it still looks like fun. I've never seen a portable compost loo. We have one at the cabin, but it stays put. - Margy
