A new VIP coat at Harrods - Woof, Woof!

🇬🇧 Day 38 - London Town...
Today I'm off to the Big Smoke to catch up with an old college friend whom I haven't seen for nearly 20 years.

It was a bright and sunny day...the British start every conversation with some observation about the weather and today's sunshine is particularly noteworthy because:
1. It seems to be a rare occurrence and.....
2. Yesterday it snowed in some parts of the Country... I know, I know, it's not even winter yet...that's the point....
3. A true Aussie lass would never dream of leaving home without her sunnies, and today I gave up on British sunshine and regretted it...

I jumped off my National Express coach from Oxford at Marble Arch trundling my old battered 'yes of course this fits the criteria as hand luggage' suitcase through Hyde Park, past Speakers Corner and around the Serpentine Lake with paddle boats and tourists feeding the ducks and the cyclists wobbling around on their blue TFL bikes... all enjoying a last and grateful boost of vitamin D....

London looked fabulous, I got lost in Knightsbridge and ended up at Sloane Square. I reckon I could happily 'do' London if the opportunity ever presented for a couple of years...Especially in this part of London...Dream on! I hear TIM saying...

Having grown up as a country girl this was interesting to me, a lightbulb moment reflecting that as my entire adult life has now been spent in the cities I was more a city chick than country....

We had arranged to meet at the main entrance of Britain's most famous store Harrods, which should have been easy except that there are a gazillion ways in...
Sorry Madam you can't come in.....
....What the ...? But I have my posh I'm going to London clothes on....?????
...Madam, you need to leave your luggage at the Baggage storage department....

Phew! Five minutes later and £3 and my bag lighter, my old blue suitcase is nestled amongst her new Prada friends and I'm in....

Gotta love Harrods, as we settle in for the long haul at the outside
Terrace restaurant, gentle wafts of warm air blow onto our laps from underneath the table......... I kid you not.....

Everything is Posh - here is my Ploughmans lunch, complete with quail egg!

It was brilliant to meet up again after all these years. The thing about good friends is that it feels like you have never been apart, even though we were both only on Baby No. 1 when we last met! It was fun filling in the gaps in each others lives and swapping stories about Africa and the Middle East, Asia and Australia. We stayed so long that afternoon cream teas were being served when we left.....

The last time we meet we had one year olds.....

Afterwards I could not resist the chance for a quick peak in The Harrods Pet Spa, especially as my poor little pooch is sitting at home poorly and feeling very sorry for himself....

The Harrods Pet Spa offers the ultimate pampering and grooming experience in a 3,000 square foot pet-delicious haven - all VIP's: Very Important Pets are invited to enter the store by one special door only......

Whilst the pets are pampered their owners can indulge in some break-the-bank retail therapy with exclusive brands such as Holly & Lil with the "Jimmy Choo of dog collars" made from Italian calf leather and decorated with Charms, beads and semi precious inlays....

Or a perhaps a little something more down to earth and patriotic...?

Phewph! I've been away doing a little wandering myself, but I'm thrilled I can now catch up on your adventure!
I'll have to work backwards though because I don't want to miss a thing.

Sorry pooch is poorly :(
Maybe he's reading your posts and realises what he's missing?
I'm also chuckling thinking about your well travelled bag entertaining and passing on its adventure tales to all the 'Posh Prada's! ;D

Autumn Spice and everything nice!

Hey, what ever happened to Summer? I hope yours was lovely, mine was pretty amazing! It feels like my whole year has whizzed past in a flash, how about yours?  I've had a year of saying "yes" to everything offered to me. It has been exciting to put it out to the Universe to see where I should be. We feel very fortunate to be able to do this in my husband's early years of retirement. I'm just back in Asia from the US. I never feel my year is quite right without seeing British daffodils in the Spring and a pumpkin and the leaves turning in Autumn. Yay, the world nailed it this year, thank you.  Read on to find out what happened when my ultimate yes occurred on a trip to Montana to meet Ruth, an IG friend. I know Bloggers will smile and not be at all concerned, we've been meeting up around the globe for years, haven't we...?!  But let's just say some of my family and friends were, you're doing what?! But first some Little Wren updates! France I had so...

Taipei Adventures, naked - moi?!

I have to tell you all about my little adventure in Taipei recently, naked at the Hot Springs! I can't believe that I have never been to Taiwan, I certainly urge you all to go if you ever get the chance. For me, I loved the combination of influences of two countries I enjoy.  Street views from Downtown Taipei The Chinese left some interesting historical influences and stunning architecture, which combined with a Japanese legacy and efficiency in transportation, makes Taipei an easy place to visit, with so much to see. Nowadays, Taiwan has emerged as a thoroughly modern city, I loved my time there. It felt exotic and safe until I had to get my kit off. It was a spur of the moment decisions to join my husband on his Taiwanese business trip, prompted by the delay in the arrival of our furniture into Bangkok, and ‘no room at the inn’ where we had been staying. Given that I’m commitment and fancy-free in Thailand; there’s no job, no kids, no dog and absolutely nothing in ...

L'eau de toilette....

Our meals at The Serai were a huge part of the enjoyment of our stay. Lunch & dinners are marathon five course events...We tried not to over-order but even when we cut back to try to pace ourselves, Chef would send out little treats for us to try... If one person expressed an interest in a particular dish, we all got it.... Whenever someone ordered something we all got it.... ...although sometimes it took a quite a few attempts... 'Can you do oats, no milk?' .... 'Can you do ginger, hot water and some lemon, no milk?' We have an eclectic group of tastes from Miss ' Extra spicy ' to Miss ' Not too spicy ' through to Miss ' Vegetarian, no dairy ' , myself as ' Miss Recovering, extra careful and just wants soup. ...and even Miss India herself who every now and again just orders chips... So we can't leave without saying a huge thank you to the Chef for the best food that we have had so far.... We hear conflicting reports about whether th...
